Lying has never been good.
the more you lie, the harder it gets for you.
and the longer you have to keep it going, if you tell the truth from the beginning than you don't need to keep anything going, and you shouldn't have anything to fear. If someone is mad at you for telling the truth just remember it could be a lot worse, they could find out you were lying. Everyone usually does find out you were, just save everyone the trouble and start off by telling the truth. It couldn't hurt :)
