Hey Hey kids
I decided to re-post my really sad story in hopes that people will read it:
enjoy it!
As Kevin
woke up for the final time, he knew that today he would die. From his
colorless sheets and walls, his Studio Apartment seemed all the more
holy today. Maybe it was his calm attitude towards his own death or his
cat creeping around his bed, but for the first time ever, Kevin didn’t
want to get up from his bed. He eventually persuaded himself saying,
“There has to be something for today!” He was right. “Tiger move! It’s
not time for me to feed you yet.”
“Meow,” he replied respectively.
Kevin began his day like any other, because until about 8, it would be.
Putting his pants on and pulling his black sweatshirt over his head,
this fateful Thursday felt eerily similar, but Kevin ignored this
feeling, knowing most of the time his Déjà-Vu was just a side effect
from the anti-..depressants he took and did not need. Life had
always been funny to Kevin, taking his father at age 6 and his younger
brother at 15, Kevin started to enjoy the life’s little things and
playing games with people, that seemed to make him happy, and you can’t
argue with successes. Kevin, now 22, was up and brushing his teeth, as
he spit out the foam and toothpaste he set a mental note to himself
remembering that the Thursday NBC Lineup included his favorite show, My
Name Is Earl. A show about making things right in the Universe was
something Kevin could relate to. Once he was done cleaning his mouth he
set his DVR and walked out the door, but not before he grabbed a
notebook with his pen in the spirals and said goodbye to Tiger one last
time.
Kevin headed downstairs and walked to the nearest bus station, 2 blocks
and 32 steps away from his building. This kind of exact knowledge was
one of things Kevin enjoyed knowing. With his Subway Pass for the
month, Kevin passed the ticket window and entered the Subway and
started on his final trip to work. Putting his earphones on, Kevin
decided to listen to something heavy and soft, like “A tout le Monde”,
so he did listen to it. As the regretful note of the song went on in
the background Kevin waited patiently his stop, two after he entered.
Once the subway had arrived at his destination he checked his watch, a
quarter after 9.
Kevin walked the halls of his office building and sat down at his
chair, and read over some loans. He set them aside and laughed quietly
to him self, “I’ll get these done tomorrow.” After actually doing some
work, it was time for Kevin’s lunch break.
He had no money and had no desire to borrow any so he did what any self-..respecting
office worker would do in this situation; he dug in the office
refrigerator and ate food that wasn’t his. Pleasantly surprised that he
wasn’t caught, Kevin smiled a smile that he hardly ever flashed and he
kept it secretive. As he sat there reminiscing about someone else’s
lunch he thought of not going back to work. So he didn’t.
Kevin
walked out the door and into the street. It had started to rain a bit,
but this didn’t stop Kevin, he enjoyed the rain and walking in it was
second nature to him. He wandered the street of his neighborhood for
what seemed like hours, from the look of the non-existent Sun, he
stopped to buy cigarettes but then something called to him… it told him
to go east. So he did. He went east exactly 5 blocks until he saw
something screamed to him. A homeless man was on the corner begging,
Kevin, always loving to give to the less fortunate unfortunately had no
money for he had left his wallet at home. As he passed the beggar he
apologized and the beggar blessed him, this was the sign that Kevin
finally recognized. He had never been a holy man, but Religion was
always there for him. He knew where he had to go now; to the bell tower
of the Cathedral.
Kevin walked into the House of GOD sat in one of the pews in the back
so as not to draw attention. He removed his tattered black notebook
from him bag and opened it up and saw the many poems, stories and
pictures he had penned over a 3 month span, one about his birth,
another about Marines in Europe, and many more, each with its own
universe dependent of the author’s mood. As he put his pen to paper for
one of the last times in his life he heard a noise, he looked up and
there was a little girl staring at him, he quietly continued drawing.
As the scratches became lines, and the lines became features, rosy
cheeks became a face, and the face became a girl, the puzzled youngster
in front of him touched her cheek to make sure the drawing was not a
mirror, it wasn’t. She smiled.
Kevin tore the page out of his note book, signed it with what looked
like scribbles, the little girl found out many years later that the
signature read, “I’m Sorry”
Then he handed it to the girl and went
outside. As seconds turned to minutes he heard the bells of the Church
ring, signaling the beginning of the 8 o’clock mass. Soaking wet he
opened his notebook and wrote for the last time and folded it in half
once, then half again, then in half a final 3rd time and pocketed the
secret treasure that would be found in several minutes. He walked up to
the Bell Tower, a towering 10 stories up. Kevin checked his watch one
last time; 30 minutes ‘till 9. His show was over by now.
As
he approached the edge he looked over the railing and saw two cars a
Ford and a BMW. He chose the Ford, never a fan of “domestic” cars.
Slowly he put his first leg over the railing; he thought of Tiger,
someone has to feed him. He unfolded the paper and added a note that
mentioned the feline. As he slowly raised the other leg over the safety
railing he looked up as finally the skies cleared up. A tear came to
his eye, he brushed it aside. He sadly admitted “GOD, it’s so beautiful
isn’t it?” and took the first non-existent step on a non-existent path
to a no longer existent life.
As the ambulance approached the scene, a joke was said inside the
vehicle. Something about a Shetland pony and a woman, they had no idea
what they were going to see, but they could imagine it, it wouldn’t be
any different from any other suicide they had seen; a piece of paper in
one of the pockets, and hopefully some identification... They only
received one of these and it wasn’t very helpful to identify the body.
Kevin died name less, like many others, and like many others he did
have someone who relied on him. As the EMTs searched for a wallet they
were sadly disappointed, for all they found was a neatly folded paper,
with the ink running, and illegible words
hope u liked it!! ps R.I.PMushi!
